Croatia maintains highest jobless rate among EU member states in SEE - Eurostat

Croatia recorded the highest jobless rate among EU member states from Southeast Europe for which data was available in August, despite a notable decrease to 6.9% from 8.1% a year earlier, Eurostat said on Monday.Croatia posted the highest jobless rate among Southeast European counties in the EU in June and July as well - of 7.1% in each of the months.All other SEE members of the EU recorded unemployment rates below the EU average of 6.2%, Eurostat data shows.Bulgaria posted a year-on-year decrease in its jobless rate similar to Croatia's, cutting 1.2 percentage points to 4.0% in August.Only Cyprus posted a bigger unemployment rate decrease than Bulgaria and Croatia - 1.4 pp.In Romania, the unemployment rate was the lowest among EU member states in SEE, at 3.8% at the end of August.Data for Greece is unavailable for the months of August and July. In June, Greece posted the highest jobless rate in the EU - 17.0%.
