A Bulgarian court suspended money transfers from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the country's health ministry and declared unconstitutional the relocation earlier this year of 100 million levs ($63.5 million/51.1 million euro) of health insurance contributions to the ministry's budget.
The court acted on a petition submitted by 60 MPs from the Socialists' Coalition for Bulgaria and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, state-run Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported on Thursday.
The court ruling means that changes should be made to the state budget, according to socialist leader Sergei Stanishev.
Parliamentary budget committee chair Menda Stoyanova, however, said a budget revision would not be necessary.
