Consumer Confidence Indicator in Bulgaria Increases in January

In January 2015 the total consumer confidence indicator increases by 4.8 percentage points as compared to October 2014, according to data of Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute (NSI).
Among urban population, the increase amounts to 4.0 percentage points, while among rural population the increase stands at 7.3 percentage points.
Consumers’ opinions about the development of the general economic situation in the country over the past 12 months, as well as their expectations about the 12 months to come, are less negative compared to the previous survey.
Compared to October 2014, there is less pessimism in consumers’ evaluations of the changes in the financial situation of their households over the past 12 months, as well as in their expectations for the 12 months to come.
Consumers believe that there has been an increase in consumer prices over the past 12 months, although at a slower pace.
