The contract for design and construction of checkpoint Rudozem- Xanthi was signed in Smolyan. The assigner is the Governor of Smolyan Nedialko Slavov, who was appointed investor in checkpoint Rudozem-Xanthi by a decision of the Council of Ministers in September 2015, recalls BNR.
According to the contract between Bulgaria and Greece, the point at Rudozem provides for all types of transportation and goods.
In line with the requirements there will be five lanes in each direction. The route through this checkpoint enables higher speed.
The time to travel from Smolyan to the Aegean Sea will be one hour less than from the nearest border checkpoint, which is Zlatograd-Thermes.
