A meeting between Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo was held on Sunday.

After the meeting, there were broad deliberations between the two delegations in the presence of Shoukry and Dendias.

Welcoming the Greek minister, Shoukry said that he was happy to welcome again in Cairo his Greek counterpart and the Greek delegation pointing out the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries as well as the trilateral relations with Cyprus referring to the further strengthening of these relations.

"These relations are a strong proof of the relations based on friendship and cooperation between the two countries that share the same values in the region and aim at the mutual benefit" Shoukry said.

On his part, Dendias stated that "Today, I had another opportunity to meet in Cairo with my good friend, the Foreign Minister of Egypt Sameh Shoukry, and afterwards to attend a meeting between the two delegation. We discussed issues that concern the two countries, the eastern Mediterranean, the condition in Libya and how we can facilitate the interim government of Libya to go fast to general elections. We also discussed matters of mutual interest. I also asked my friend Sameh Shoukry to extend Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' warm greetings to President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi.
