Chinese Businessmen Eye Opportunities in Bulgaria

Opportunities for participation of high-tech Chinese companies in the first science and technology park in Bulgaria, Sofia Tech Park, were discussed by Bulgaria's Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov and HE Mr. Zhang Haizhou, China's Ambassador to Bulgaria, at a round table held in Sofia.

"We are looking for international partners to participate in the project; it provides good conditions for the Chinese companies and institutes that consider expanding their R & D centers in Europe, "said Minister Karanikolov.

He added that possible areas for cooperation include the building of own or joint research and innovation laboratories, cooperation with leading Bulgarian scientific institutions and setting up showrooms of big Chinese high-tech companies.

On his part, Hm. Zhang Haizhou said that Sofia Tech Park offers some excellent opportunities for Bulgarian-Chinese cooperation.

"We are currently promoting some technology parks in China to seek the opportunity to send incubators to Bulgaria. The market demand as well as funds that will help to transform the scientific results into industry, will follow the incubators "said HE Zhang Haizhou.

The options for enhancing economic and trade cooperation were also discussed at the meeting.
