Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Pekanov: The recovery plan is not ambitious enough

“The recovery plan is not ambitious enough. We are working to improve it so that it can be submitted,” Atanas Pekanov, Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds Management in the caretaker government said for BNT.

In planning the next programming period Pekanov’s team will endeavour to avoid the instances of modern sports facilities popping up in villages without sewerage.

“There are pending issues, i.e. technical flaws of which the European Commission is giving informal indications that they are not ready,” Atanas Pekanov commented, and added that some of the criticism is that in the sphere of decarbonization we are not ambitious enough, that there are not enough projects, that they are ineffective.
