C-bank Rejects Bulgarian Post Request for Payment Institution Licence

Bulgaria's central bank BNB rejected a request by the state-owned Bulgarian Post for a licence to operate as a payment institution, BNB said.

Bulgarian Post does not meet the requirements to be issued a payment institution licence, BNB said in a press release.

In February, a Bulgarian Post spokesperson told SeeNews the company expects to post a profit of 3.3 million levs ($2.4 million/1.7 million euro) in 2014.

According to local Standart Daily, the postal operator closed 2013 with a loss of 320,000 levs.
