Business Sentiment Stays Flat in Feb

Bulgaria’s business sentiment index stayed flat in February, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said.

The industrial subindex increased 1.5 percentage points on the month in February while the construction sub index grew by 2.7 percentage points due to managers’ positive assessments and expectations regarding the business situation in the two sectors, NSI said in a statement.

The retail subindex fell by 2.1 percentage points this month compared to January. Even though retail entrepreneurs’ expectations of the business situation for the next six months were less optimistic, they projected that sales and orders to suppliers would increase in the next three months.

The business climate gauge in the services sector down up by 3.0 percentage points month-on-month in February. Managers were more reserved as regards the current demand for services but their expectations for the business situation in the next three months has become more positive.
