Business Sentiment Index Falls in March

Bulgaria's March business sentiment index fell by 1.8 percentage points from the previous month after rising by 5.7 percentage points in February, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said.

In March, the industrial sub-index decreased by 1.2 percentage points on the month due to the managers' more negative assessment of the current business situation, the NSI said.

The sub-index in construction fell by 4.1 percentage points from February, as managers were more pessimistic about the sector's development in the following six months.

The retail sub-index declined by 5.3 percentage points on the month in March as a result of the managers' worsened expectations regarding the business situation in the sector. The uncertain economic situation remained the main problem for the retail business.

The business climate gauge in the services sector remained unchanged month-on-month in March.
