Bulgartransgaz Increases Entry Technical Capacity at Border with Greece

Bulgaria's gas transmission network operator Bulgartransgaz said that as of April 1 it is increasing the technical capacity at interconnection entry-exit point (IP) Кulata/Sidirokastro to 46 535 000 kWh/d from 10 570 000 kWh/d in the entry direction.The capacity will be offered at the Regional Booking Platform (RBP), state-owned Bulgartransgaz said in a statement on Friday.The capacity will be offered as a daily product in April, and as a monthly product in May and June. For the last quarter of the year, purchases on a quarterly basis will be available.Bulgaria and Greece are currently working on a project for a 220 million euro ($247 million) interconnector between the two countries. The IGB pipeline will connect the Greek gas transmission system in the area of Komotini to the Bulgarian gas transmission system in the area of Stara Zagora.The planned length of the new pipeline is 182 km and the projected capacity will be up to 3 billion cu m per year in the direction from Greece to Bulgaria, which can subsequently be boosted to 5 billion cu m.
