Bulgaria's YTD power output rises 2.64%, consumption down 2.91%

Bulgaria’s electricity production rose by an annual 2.64% to 8,821 GWh in the January 1 - March 7 period of 2021, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).

Domestic power consumption decreased 2.91% to 8,090 GWh in the period under review, data from ESO's weekly bulletin showed.

Bulgaria recorded a power trade surplus of 731 GWh in the review period, compared to a surplus of 262 GWh in the same period of 2020.

The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system decreased 12.27% year-on-year to 249 GWh, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system dropped 11.76% to 332 GWh.
