Bulgaria's We Continue The Change wins snap vote with 25.67% support - final results

Bulgaria's We Continue The Change, a recently formed anti-graft party led by former caretaker economy minister Kiril Petkov, won Sunday's snap general election with 25.67% support amid record-low voter turnout, final official results showed on Wednesday.

Seven parties crossed the 4% threshold for entry into parliament, final data by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) showed.

The election winner holds a 3 percentage point lead over the centre-right coalition of GERB and the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF), led by former prime minister Boyko Borissov.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), which traditionally draws support mainly among Bulgarian ethnic Turks and Muslims, came in third with 13% backing.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party is fourth with 10.21% support.

Populist formation There Is Such a People (TISP) which won the July 11 snap election with 24.08% support, this time came fifth, garnering 9.52% of the votes.

Anti-status quo, pro-reform Democratic Bulgaria coalition will be the sixth biggest party in parliament on the back of 6.37% of the votes.

Nationalist and populist Revival won 4.86%.

We Continue The Change has already held government formation talks talks with BSP, Democratic Bulgaria, and TISP and the three parties are willing to support a cabinet formed by the election winner, public television BNT reported on Tuesday.

Commenting on the election results late on Sunday, Petkov said that We Continue The Change will hold talks with all political formations in parliament except GERB-UDF and MRF.

The November 14 snap general elections were the country's third vote for parliament this year.
