Bulgaria's revenues from tourist overnights soar 271% y/y in Dec

Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in December jumped to some 40.8 million levs ($23.8 million/20.8 million euro), the country's statistical office said on Thursday.

In December 2020, total revenue from tourist overnights in Bulgaria amounted to 15 million levs, according to previously released data.

The revenue from overnights spent by foreign nationals reached 12.7 million levs in December, a 335% surge from the same month of the previous year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.

The total number of tourist overnights spent in the country in the month under review was 616,100, up 127% on an annual comparison basis. Some 155,500 of total overnights were spent by foreign tourists.

In December, four and five-star accommodation facilities served 43% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists and 75% of the overnights of international visitors.

The number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in December was almost 290,700, up 132% year-on-year.

Bulgaria's retail sales rise 9.4% y/y in Dec - table

Bulgaria's retail sales at constant prices went up 9.4% on the year in December, after rising by an annual 6.7% in the previous month, the country's statistical office, NSI, said on Thursday, citing preliminary working-day adjusted data.

On a seasonally-adjusted monthly comparison basis, retail trade turnover at constant prices grew by 1% in December, following an increase by the same percentage in November, NSI said in a statement.

Bulgaria's construction output adds 1.4% y/y at end-2021 - table

Bulgaria's construction production rose by 1.4% year-on-year at the end of 2021, following a 3.2% annual increase at the end of November, the National Statistical Office (NSI) said on Thursday, citing preliminary working-day adjusted data.

On a seasonally-adjusted monthly comparison basis, construction output fell 0.4% at the end of last year after increasing by 2% at the end of November, the NSI said in a statement.
