Bulgaria's non-govt borrowing growth speeds up to 4.6% y/y at end-March

Loans to Bulgaria's non-government sector increased by 4.6% year-on-year at the end of March, reaching 66.3 billion levs ($40.9 billion/33.9 billion euro), following an annual rise of 4.1% at the end of February, the central bank, BNB, said on Friday.

The value of loans at the end of March was equivalent to 52.6% of Bulgaria's forecast 2021 gross domestic product, the BNB said in a statement.

Loans to non-financial corporations amounted to 35.8 billion levs at the end of March - up 2.7% on an annual comparison basis.

Loans to households rose by an annual 7.1% to 26.1 billion levs at the end of March, while loans to financial corporations totalled 4.4 billion levs, up 6.1% on the year.
