Today, Bulgaria’s National Assembly is expected to make amendments to the moratorium imposed on the prices of electricity, central heating and water. The moratorium is expected to come into force on December 16, 2021 and be valid until March 31, 2022.
Yesterday, following a proposal of GERB/SDS, the MPs imposed a moratorium on the price of electricity, water and sewerage services and central heating at the levels of January 1, 2021. However, Bulgaria’s cabinet called this moratorium unclear. MP Rumen Gechev from “BSP for Bulgaria” said in Parliament that a retroactive moratorium holds risks. MP Vladislav Panev from “Democratic Bulgaria” also said that a retroactive moratorium was not a good decision.
