Bulgaria's trade deficit increased to some 3.6 billion levs ($2.2 billion/1.8 billion euro) in the first six months of 2021, compared to a gap of some 2 billion levs in the same period of last year, the statistical office said on Thursday, citing preliminary data.
Six-month exports (FOB) rose 20.8% on the year to about 32 billion levs, while imports (CIF) added 24.8% to 35.6 billion levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
In June alone, Bulgaria's trade gap widened to 808.7 million levs, from 431.5 million levs in the comparable month of 2020, as exports increased by 27.8% to 5 6 billion levs, whereas imports went up 33.2% to about 6.4 billion levs.
