Bulgaria's electricity production added 22.61% year-on-year to 13,059 GWh from January 1 to March 20, data by the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) showed.
Domestic power consumption rose 4.65% on the year in the review period reaching 10,120 GWh, according to data published in ESO's weekly newsletter.
Bulgaria's power trade surplus soared by 199.6% in the year to date to 2,939 GWh compared to the same period last year.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network went up 17.7% on the year to 348.4 GWh. The volume of renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 18.7% to 473.6 GWh.
The output of hydro power plants fell 32.3% year-on-year to 983.3 GWh.
