Bulgaria's electricity production increased by 17.4% year-on-year in the period January 1 - May 8, reaching 19,867 GWh, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said.
In the period under review, power consumption in the country rose 1.79% in annual terms, to 15,087 GWh, ESO said in its latest weekly newsletter.
Bulgaria's power trade surplus surged by an annual 127.63%, to 4,780 GWh.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network increased by 23.45% year-on-year to 582.45 GWh through May 8. The volume of renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 18.64% to 820.2 GWh.
The output of hydropower plants fell 35.26% in annual terms to 1,558 GWh in the period under review.
