Bulgaria's c/a turns to deficit in Q1

Bulgaria's current account turned to a deficit of 163.5 million euro ($199.7 million) in the first quarter of 2021, compared to a surplus of 291.6 million euro in the same period of 2020, the central bank said on Wednesday.

The current account deficit in the January-March period was equivalent to 0.3% of the projected 2021 gross domestic product (GDP), the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement.

The surplus in the first quarter of 2020 was also equivalent to 0.5% of last year's GDP.
