Bulgaria's current account was in deficit of 1.38 billion euro ($1.57 billion) at the end of 2021, compared to a deficit of some 161.2 million euro a year earlier, the central bank said on Thursday.
The current account deficit in 2021 was equivalent to 2.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) projected for last year, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement.
The deficit in 2020 was equivalent to 0.3% of that year's GDP, the BNB added.
