Bulgaria's business climate indices declined on a monthly comparison basis in June, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Tuesday.
The overall business sentiment indicator fell 4.0 percentage points (pp) in June, compared to May, due to decreases in the industry and construction indicators, the statistical office said in a monthly business climate survey.
The composite indicator in the industry sector went down by 8.4 pp month-on-month, as a result of the more unfavourable assessments and expectations of industrial entrepreneurs about the business situation of the enterprises.
The construction sector indicator was down 6.5 pp, due to more reserved construction entrepreneurs’ assessments of the present business situation of the enterprises. "However, their forecasts about both the business situation of the enterprises over the next six months and the construction activity over the next three months are favourable," the NSI said.
The business sentiment indicator in the retail trade sector maintained its May level. The retailers’ forecasts about the business development over the next six months are unfavourable, while their expectations about the volume of sales over the next three months are reserved.
The composite indicator in the services sector increased by 2.7 pp in June due to the positive managers’ assessments about the present business situation of the enterprises. Their opinions about the present and expected demand for services are also favourable, the NSI added.
