Bulgaria's 5.1 mln euro support scheme for tour operators draws 840 applications

Bulgaria's tourism ministry said on Wednesday that a total of 840 tour operators and travel agents have applied for funding under a 10 million levs ($6.1 million/5.1 million euro) programme aimed at supporting the sector through the coronavirus pandemic.

The applicants are seeking funding of 64.1 million levs from the programme, which is financed under operational programme Innovations and Competitiveness 2014-2020, the tourism ministry said in a statement.

The deadline for submitting applications expired on Tuesday. The submitted applications are due to be reviewed.
