Bulgaria's trade deficit increased to some 1.9 billion levs ($1.2 billion/971.4 million euro) in the first four months of 2021, compared to a gap of 1.4 billion levs in the same period of 2020, the statistical office said on Friday, citing preliminary data.
Four-month exports (FOB) went up 16.6% on the year to about 21.3 billion levs, while imports (CIF) rose 18.2% to 23.2 billion levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
In April alone, Bulgaria's trade gap increased to 288.3 million levs, from 72.6 million levs in the comparable month of 2020, as exports jumped 47.9% to 5.7 billion levs, whereas imports surged 52.5% to some 6 billion levs.
