Bulgaria Proposes Resumption of Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation with Slovenia

Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has proposed to the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Slovenia, Karl Erjavec, that the work of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation be resumed, as well as that of the Bulgarian-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, Mitov said at a joint briefing with Erjavec Thursday. The Slovenian Foreign Minister is paying a visit to Sofia.
Taking a question, Erjavec said that a procedure for opening a Slovenian Embassy in Bulgaria will be launched if bilateral trade doubles to 500 million euro. He is convinced the figure can be achieved. Mitov also expressed conviction that the figure is a feasible one.
There are no open or controversial issues between Bulgaria and Slovenia, Mitov said, and remarked on the more active political dialogue in the last two years and on the good cooperation in regional matters and initiatives. The sides also discussed the migrant crisis.
Erjavec congratulated Bulgaria on its successful Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East European Cooperation Process. He finds that bilateral political relations are excellent and also a good foundation for promoting dialogue in other spheres, such as the economic one.
