The construction of the natural gas interconnector Greece – Bulgaria will begin in October, 2016. This is what Bulgarian Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova said after the signing of the final investment decision on the construction of the gas connection between Bulgaria and Greece, a reporter of FOCUS News Agency announced.
“Today was a very important day for all us, because we witnessed the signing of the final investment decision on the construction of the gas connection between the two countries. This signing initiates a strategically important energy project. This is a strategic project important for the entire Southeast Europe region,” said Minister Petrova. According to her, the project will present opportunities for the diversification of sources for natural gas supply.
“For the last several months, we conducted a consultative dialogue, which led us to today. I would like to thank our EC partners for their support. It is a project of common benefit. Many important stages on the construction of the interconnector await. The road map we signed with our partners envisions the construction to begin in October, 2016, and its commercial launching in the summer of 2018,” added Minister Petkova.
