Bulgarian Tourist Chamber: Revenues in Tourism Expected to Reach 6,500 Million Leva in 2010

Bulgarian Tourist Chamber (BTC) Chairman Tsvetan Tonchev told a news conference Wednesday that tourism revenues are expected to reach 6,500 million leva in 2010, the same at the 2009 levels. Revenues from foreign tourists will top 5,000 million leva, and from Bulgarian tourists, 1,200 to 1,300 million leva.

BTC figures show that the daily turnover in tourism is between 15 and 20 million leva.Tonchev cited July figures from the Bourgas airport which indicate a five per cent increase in the number of passengers.

The number of Israeli tourists is up by 36.1 per cent, of Russian by 32.4 per cent, of Ukrainian 32.3 per cent, of Belarusian 28.5 per cent and of Polish 19 per cent. A 15 per cent increase is reported in the number of tourists from Scandinavian countries against a 35 per cent drop in 2009.
