A consortium comprising Bulgarian construction companies Hidrostroy and VDH will break ground for the rehabilitation of a 7.2-kilometre long road section in the northwestern part of the country on October 23, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) said on Thursday.

The project for the reconstruction of the road section connecting the village of Blagovo to the city of Montana is worth over 6.6 million levs ($4.0 million/3.4 million euro), VAT included, and benefits from EU financing under the cross-border cooperation programme INTERREG V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020, RIA said in a statement.

The section is part of the road which is the fastest transport link of the regions of Montana and Vidin to the capital Sofia.
