The President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov expressed satisfaction at the European Commission's latest progress report for Bulgaria on the cooperation and verification mechanism.
"The open tone and the motivation of authorities and institutions are considerably raising the trust our European partners have in Bulgaria," said the President.
Parvanov characterized the report as "encouraging" and considered that this should stimulate even more resolute efforts in the struggle against organized crime and corruption.
In particular, the Bulgarian President expressed optimism about the ongoing reform in the judicial system.
Parvanov, who has voiced frequent criticism of the GERB cabinet and has entered in a number of heated skirmishes with some of its members, offered praises to the government this time around, saluting its readiness for swift action and for reform.
Georgi Parvanov also said he was hopeful that the relevant authorities would make the steps necessary for Bulgaria to become a member of the Schengen agreement in 2011.
