Bulgarian Pres Plevneliev Expects Some 45 Bln Euro of Investment Inflows by 2020

Bulgarian president Rosen Plevneliev said he expects some 45 billion euro ($58 billion) of investment inflows to Bulgaria by 2020.

"I think that Bulgaria would attract approximately 45 billion euro in investments by 2020, according to estimates I have seen, and that is if do a good job, if we work hard together," daily Trud quoted Plevneliev as saying in his annual speech before the Atlantic Club on Thursday.

Currently as much as 85% of the total amount of investments in Bulgaria go into manufacturing, which is a sign that the country's economy is being restructured, news portal Economy.bg cited Plevneliev as saying at the same event.

According to the president, Bulgaria should position itself as a regional hub for information and communication technology, considering that this sector of the local economy numbers 550 companies, employing 35,000 people.
