Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov dismissed as nonsense comments by sociologists and opposition politicians that the country may hold early elections.
"The forecasts for early elections are nonsense and humbug, we have motorways to build," state-run Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) cited Borisov as saying during the inauguration of a road junction on the Trakia motorway near Nova Zagora.
Recent reports in local media have quoted sociologists and opposition politicians as saying that the ruling centre-right party GERB may provoke early parliamentary elections this year to take advantage of its still strong voter support.
