Bulgaria’s energy diversification projects have been high on the agenda of Wednesday’s meeting of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov with German President Joachim Gauck in Sofia on Wednesday.
Borisov told Gauck that Bulgaria would seek the opinion of the European Commisson about follow-up action after an arbitration court ruling, according to which Bulgaria has to pay Russia 500 million euros in compensation for equipment already produced for Belene nuclear power plant project which the government in Sofia abandonedin 2012.
Borisov reiterated that the communication between Sofia and Brussels would aim to best protect Bulgaria’s national interest – in tune with the bloc’s energy policy, the government in Sofia said in a statement.
