Bulgarian NATO, EU Membership is Decisive for the National Security: Vice Admiral

“Bulgarian NATO and EU membership is decisive for the national security of the country,” Vice Admiral Rumen Nikolov said at the opening of the new academic year at Georgi S. Rakovski Military Academy in Sofia, a reporter of FOCUS News Agency announced.
“It is necessary NATO and the EU to seek approaches for their future development. Defence of hybrid threat means maintenance and demonstration of political consensus, protection of critical infrastructure including communication lines, strengthening border control, holding consultations within the NATO and the EU,” Vice Admiral Rumen Nikolov said.
According to him, the expansion of the scale of regional conflicts and aspirations to impose political and economic interests from state and non-state factors may face the country with serious challenges - increased refugee flow, manifestations of violent radicalism and terrorism, activating channels for international criminal gangs, financial and economic crimes.
