Bulgaria's government said on Wednesday that it has extended 35.3 million levs ($21 million/18 million euro) to the regional development ministry to finance costs of the construction of a 9.3km long section of Hemus motorway. The construction of Hemus motorway is a priority for the government, as the motorway is expected to support the economic development of northwestern Bulgaria, the country's 's poorest region, the government said in a statement following its weekly meeting. A consortium comprising Bulgarian construction companies Hydrostroy, Vodstroy 98 and Patstroy Burgas broke ground in March for the 9.3-kilometre section of the motorway linking the town of Yablanitsa with the Boaza junction. The contract for construction of the motorway section is worth 54.9 million levs.Hemus motorway is designed to connect the capital Sofia with the Black Sea city of Varna. The planned length of the motorway, parts of which are already operational, is 433 km.(1 euro = 1.95583 levs)
