Bulgaria's government said that it has allocated 94.4 million levs ($56.8 million/48.3 million euro) to partially finance the construction of the northern bypass road of the city of Burgas and a section of Hemus motorway connecting Buhovtsi and Belokopitovo. Over 81.4 million levs of the total will go towards the construction of the 16.3-kilometre Hemus motorway section, as works are progressing ahead of schedule and could be completed before the 2021 deadline, the government said in a statement late on Tuesday. The remaining funds will be used for advance and interim payments regarding the planned start of construction of the 4.7-kilometre Burgas bypass road. The new road section will help steer away from the city center the heavy traffic coming from the other large city on the country's Black Sea coast - Varna, as well as from Trakia motorway, which connects Burgas to Bulgaria's two largest cities - the capital Sofia and Plovdiv.
