Commissar Dimitar Georgiev has been appointed as a new Deputy Interior Minister by the Bulgarian government after his predecessor had to quit for having a background in the communist-era services.
Georgiev, the acting director of the International Police Cooperation Directorate of the Interior, was appointed on Monday by PM Boyko Borisov.
He has worked for the Interior Ministry since 1993, when he started out as an inspector. He was appointed the head of the international cooperation department.
