Nearly 1.8 million levs has been raised in the 13th edition of the Bulgarian Christmas charity initiative. The information was released after the end of the charity concert, which was held on Friday, December 25, under the auspices of the Bulgarian President, the press office of the President’s Office announced on Saturday.
This year’s initiative focuses on support for children in critical condition who need intensive care.
At present, nearly 681,000 levs has been raised due to text messages sent to 1117 and phone calls made since the beginning of the 13th edition of the Bulgarian Christmas initiative announced by President Plevneliev at the beginning of December.
1,116,000 levs has been raised in the bank account for donations of the initiative.
Donations are made all year round.
By tradition, Friday’s charity show was hosted by the Ivan Vazov National Theatre. It was attended by President Rosen Plevneliev, European Commission Vice President for the Budget and Human Resources Kristalina Georgieva, former president Petar Stoyanov (1997-2002), MPs, diplomats, and doctors.
His Holiness Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan Bishop of Sofia Neophyte delivered a special video address in support of Bulgarian children and their families.
