Bulgarian Association Adopted and Adopters calls for amendments to the Family Code

The National Adoption Awareness Weeks, held in Bulgaria in the second half of October, focus on the secrecy of adoption and the right of adoptees to access information about their biological parents.

The Bulgarian Association Adopted and Adopters is calling for amendments to the Family Code, which has not been changed in its "Adoption" section since 1967. "Only circumstances of particular importance can allow the adopted persons learn their origin, which is extremely discriminatory", the President of the Bulgarian Association Adopted and Adopters Velichka Dosheva said in an interview for the BNR.
