"PM Boyko Borisov's visit to Istanbul is very important against the background of the constant migrant pressure on Turkey's border with Bulgaria," Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov told the Bulgarian National Television.
He added that Bulgaria is going to seek cooperation with Turkey's authorities over joint border protection strategies.
"If one is caught angling at night at a river or a dam near the border with Turkey, they called it a border incident, but when a crowd of 100 or 200 people approaches the border line, nobody appears to notice. This is quite odd, isn't it?" Mitov added.
He went on to say that construction of a fence along the Bulgarian-Turkish border will soon be completed.
