Bulgaria To Set up Power Exchange by End-2012

Bulgaria will set up a power exchange by the end of the year with work underway on an accelerated timetable to make this happen, the country's economy minister Delyan Dobrev said.

The energy ministry is currently working on selecting a clearing house for the exchange, newspaper Capital Daily reported on Tuesday quoting Dobrev as saying.

The official added that, by the end of the year, the share of the deregulated electricity market in Bulgaria should reach 50%, up from the current 30%. The boost will come from companies using medium-voltage electricity which will start buying their power on the deregulated segment.
