Bulgaria to Service More than 7 Million Tourists This Summer: Expert
Wednesday, 18 March 2015
“This summer Bulgaria will service more than 7 million Bulgarian and foreign tourists and will open 320,000 jobs in the tourism sector,” said Rumen Draganov, Director of the Bulgarian Institute for Tourism Analyses and Assessments, speaking in an interview with FOCUS News Agency.
According to him, there will be a “serious summer tourism season”, mostly because of the crisis at the Russian market and the downturn in the European one, as well as because of the difference in the currency course between the payment in US dollars, British pounds, Swiss francs, Japanese yens and Europe’s euro.
Mr Draganov explained that he expected a drop in the Russian market, which would be of around 30% and added that over the last days some positive tendencies had been outlined, such as that Bulgaria remained on the map of the charter flights from Russia, in contrast to other destinations.
“The change of the rate of the US dollar towards the euro makes the prices for Russia more favourable with a tendency for improvement of the price of the package, since Russia buys its oil products in dollars and its major payments are in dollars, too. To certain extent this compensates for the devaluation of the Russian rouble,” Rumen Draganov said further.
