Bulgaria to reopen restaurants on March 1, nightclubs on April 1

Bulgaria will reopen restaurants on March 1 and nightclubs on April 1, after closing them down in November 2020 in an attempt to limit the spread of COVID-19, deputy prime minister Mariyana Nikolova said on Wednesday.

Restaurants will be allowed to operate at 50% capacity with no more than six people seated at one table, Nikolova said in a statement following a meeting with health minister Kostadin Angelov.

On Wednesday, Bulgaria's health ministry reported 1,800 new COVID-19 cases. The total number of confirmed infections in the country is 240,391, of which 28,913 still active.
