Information Office of the European Parliament and the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria organise a series of events to mark Europe Day – May 9.
The House of Europe in Sofia will welcome schoolchildren, there will be literary readings focused on the history of Europe, which will be joined by popular Bulgarian actors, journalists, athletes and artists. There will be also light shows on landmark buildings in the cities of Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, as the colours used will be those emblematic for the EU.
On May 9 the Information Office of the European Parliament and the European Commission Representation will organise Open Door Day for groups of schoolchildren from all over the country, who have deserved a visit at the House of Europe and have taken part in different initiatives and competitions over the year. More than 400 young people will learn important information and curious facts about the EU and the European institutions directly from the people, who work in them.
President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev, the Ambassadors of Slovakia and the Netherlands, Bulgarian MEPs and Dr Milen Vrabevski, winner of the European Citizens' Prize in 2013, will attend the solemn marking of the holiday.
