Bulgaria is planning to invest 1.59 billion levs ($957.8 million/812.9 million euro) in water sanitation projects countrywide by 2023, the regional development ministry said.
The projects, which will be financed under operational programme Environment 2014-2020, envisage the construction of 19 waste and drinking water treatment plants, 1,300 kilometres of water supply and sewage pipes and other facilities, the regional development ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
The construction of part of the facilities is expected to begin at the end of this year, while other projects will start in 2019.
Some two million Bulgarians will benefit from the water sanitation projects, the regional development ministry noted.
