Bulgarian capital city Sofia will host a Conference of the Chairpersons of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of Europe on Tuesday, February 9.
The topic of the conference is Democratic Security Based on European Unity and Cooperation.
The forum will be hosted by the Bulgarian parliament.
The conference will be opened by Bulgarian National Assembly Chairperson Tsetska Tsacheva and PACE President Pedro Agramunt at 10 a.m.
During the first session, which is dedicated to the Freedom and Security in Europe: Challenges and Dilemmas there will be a statement by Bulgarian Foreign Minister and Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe Daniel Mitov.
Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini Dragoni will speak about the Democratic Security in Europe Today.
Walter Schwimmer, Co-chairperson of the World Public Forum and former Secretary General of the Council of Europe, and Vessela Tcherneva, Senior Director for Programmes and acting Head of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) Sofia Office, will make statements, too.
Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Coalition Policy and Public Administration and Minister of Interior Rumiana Bachvarova will speak during the second session of the conference, which is dedicated to the migration wave in Europe.
Michael Spindelegger, Director General of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development, will make a statement on Tackling the Migration Challenges: Balance between Home and Foreign Policy.
