Bulgaria expects to harvest 5.7-5.8 million tonnes of wheat this year from around 1.2 million ha sown, caretaker agriculture minister Hristo Bozukov said.
Preliminary estimates indicate that barley production will exceed 500,000 tonnes in 2021, to be harvested from some 125,000 ha sown, Bozukov said in a press release last week.
In 2020, Bulgaria harvested 4.63 million tonnes of wheat from 1.18 million ha put to wheat, down from 6.16 million tonnes harvested in 2019, the agriculture ministry said last year.
