Bulgaria to explore options for natural gas supplies from Israel

Bulgaria's government said on Wednesday that it will explore options for natural gas supplies from Israel as part of its strategy to diversify its supplies.

The Bulgarian government approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries' energy ministries, which envisages the establishment of a working group to discuss matters of common interest, including possible gas supplies, the government in Sofia said in a statement following its weekly meeting.

The gas supplies from Israel will be made possible via the completion of the Greece-Bulgaria natural gas interconnector, the Bulgarian government noted.

Bulgaria currently imports almost all the natural gas it needs from Russia.
