Bulgaria to allocate 1.5 bln euro of EU-backed funding to farmers in 2021

Bulgaria will allocate some 2.9 billion levs ($1.8 billion/1.5 billion euro) in EU-supported funding to local farmers this year, the government said.

About 2.6 billion levs of the total will be provided by the EU, while the remainder will be contributed by the state budget, the government said in a statement on Wednesday.

Of the total financing, some 1.6 billion levs are intended for direct payments under the bloc's single area payment scheme as well as for coupled support for animals, fruits, vegetables and others, while 731 million levs will be used for rural development.
