Bulgaria to Accept Schengen Visas as Equivalent to Bulgarian Ones

Bulgaria's government approved on Wednesday a proposal to accept Schengen visas as equivalent to Bulgarian visas for short stays in the country.

The decision allows travellers with Schengen visas to be able to enter and stay in Bulgaria for up to three months in any six-month period without requiring a Bulgarian short-stay visa, online news portal The Sofia Echo reported.

The amendment is aimed to facilitate tourist and business visits from people with Schengen visas.

The change is expected to boost interest in tourism and investment in Bulgaria on the part of citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and Turkey, as well as other non-EU states.
