Bulgaria was one of the few EU countries to record a monthly decline in industrial production in May, data from the bloc's statistics bureau Eurostat showed on July 13 2011.The country's industrial output edged down 0.5 per cent in monthly terms, but advanced 7.8 per cent on the year. Similarly, Estonia saw a monthly drop of 2.5 per cent in May and an annual increase of 26.1 per cent.Overall, the bloc's industrial production fell slightly below expectations in the period, triggering fears that the region's economic recovery is losing momentum.Industrial production in the euro zone climbed by a monthly 0.1 per cent on average in May, missing expectations for an increase of 0.4 per cent of 31 analysts polled by Bloomberg.In annual terms, industrial output in the euro area and the entire EU grew by four per cent.Estonia registered the biggest increase in industrial output in the period, of 26.1 per cent, followed by the Czech Republic with 12.6 per cent and Lithuania with 11.4 per cent.Greece and the Netherlands suffered the largest declines in industrial production of 10 per cent and 2.6 per cent, respectively./Source: The Sofia Echo/
